After the ups and downs of Golden Globes 2024, SAG Awards 2024 is just around the corner. After the historic strike of SAF AFTRA that was taking place between June to November of 2023, this year’s edition of SAG Awards is already too special.
Now we are getting some exclusive updates about the nominations and if you are looking around for the names, then you’ve found your place. I am sharing the full official list of nominations which are already enough to surprise you. Yes, I am going to include the both categories (Movies and TV Shows) along with my very own analysis about the possible winner. So let’s jump into this red carpet event!
SAG Awards 2024 For: ‘Best Lead Actress!’
Believe it or not, but despite the importance and toughness of this title, we already knows the name of two actresses who will be leading the race of a winner. Not believing? Take a look at the list of nominees:
- Emma Stone for Poor Things
- Margot Robbie for Barbie
- Lily Gladstone for The Killers Of The Flower Moon
- Carey Mulligan for Maestro
- Annette Bening for Nyad
We knows that Emma Stone has already won a title in Golden Globes 2024, but this time, she is getting Margot Robbie- Yes, our Barbie doll. So I would say that either Margot or Emma will be winning this title and if you’ll ask me to pick one, then I am going to move forward with Margot Robbie.
Her acting skills was so brilliant that many fans are now demanding for a custom Barbie doll with the voice feature or facial features of Margot Robbie. Still we should wait and watch because how can we underestimate the power of our Emma Stone?
SAG Awards 2024 For: ‘Best Lead Actor!’
Now comes the main title for male category. The list of nominees says:
- Bradly Cooper for Maestro
- Cillian Murphy for Oppenheimer
- Colman Domingo for Rustin
- Paul Giamatti for The Holdovers
- Jeffrey Wright for American Fiction
No confusions here- I am going to predict the name of Cillian Murphy for the title of ‘Best Lead Actor!’ Oppenheimer has established some of the toughest milestones on the global box office and Cillian has become a Global Sensation. His acting skills are getting a lot of praise, especially because of the fact that he has the ability to dominate over box office even after the decade long acting journey.
Even Robert Downey Jr. was praising him during the acceptance speech of Golden Globes 2024. So I don’t think that this title is going anywhere else other then the pockets of Cillian.
SAG Awards 2024 For: ‘Best Film Ensemble!’
Yes! That’s where the real taste is. We’ve got tons of great performances throughout 2023 but only one is going to take this title home. Generally, the biggest IP’s dominates it in SAG AFTRA awards, however, things are wild this time. The nominees are:
- Barbie
- Oppenheimer
- The Color Purple
- American Fiction
- Killers Of The Flower Moon
Don’t get stuck on the first two names because there is a project which might steal it. Yes, I am talking about The Color Purple. You may call my opinion as the ‘unpopular one’ but that’s what the team of Movie World Network aka TV Prism is known for. We do have our own analysis and that’s why I am saying that ‘The Color Purple’ might win this title.
How? Well, Barbie has won our hearts and so the box office numbers by grossing more then a billion dollars, and same for the Oppenheimer. The Color Purple, however, is that underdog which has garnered a lot of praise from the critics and so the audience. This project has dominated on box office for more then a month and the fact that it is well received from the International audience even after the presence of those giant IP’s is enough to explain everything.
So for me, The Color Purple might win the title of SAG Award 2024 For: ‘Best Film Ensemble!’
SAG Awards 2024 For: The ‘Best Actor In A Drama Series!’
We got tons of awesome shows in 2023 from every genre. From gaming to novels, from comedy to superheroes, the year was full of entertainment. However, only five will get nominated for this category, and to be honest, that’s how it works.
So without wasting much time, here are the ‘Five Nominees’ for the category of ‘Best Actor In A Drama Series’:
- Brian Cox for Succession
- Billy Crudup for The Morning Show
- Kieran Culkin for The Succession
- Mathew Macfadyen for The Sucession
- Pedro Pascal for The Last Of Us
Now after checking out the names, you might say that this title will go in the pockets of ‘The Succession’ easily, and that’s because we are getting three out of five nominees from this project. But my friends, that’s not how it works.
If you’ve watched the previous award shows then you should know that most of the time (not everytime ofcourse), the title goes in the pockets of the actor whose project is in ‘minority’. So on the basis of this analysis, either Pedro Pascal or Billy Crudup are securing a safe place to win this title.
According to my prediction and analysis, Pedro Pascal is going to win the title of ‘Best Actor In A Drama Series’ and that’s because he has done a phenomenal work as Joel in during the whole show. Also the fact that The Last Of Us is securing the highest streaming numbers gives him a bonus point!
SAG Awards 2024 For: The ‘Best Ensemble In A Drama Series!’
Next comes the category of ‘Best Ensemble’ and the nominees are:
- The Crown
- The Guilded Age
- The Last Of Us
- The Morning Show
- Succession
Now things are a bit tricky in this specific category because we are getting some of he best TV shows. After taking a look at their streaming hours, premiere watch time and critic’s score, I am going to say that it is a tie between Succession and The Last Of Us- however, this time, Succession is securing a better critic’s and audience score. So yes, Succession may win this title!
SAG Awards 2024 For: The ‘Best Ensemble For A Comedy Series’!
After talking about the Drama series, now is the time to talk about the Comedy Genre. This time, we are getting some original names which are as follows:
- Abbott Elementary
- Barry
- The Bear
- Only Murders In The Building
- Ted Lasso
As soon as we heard the name of Ted Lasso, I think we’ve got our winner. This show is securing a record breaking numbers of streaming in the opening week, hence, a confirmed project for this category!
SAG Awards 2024 For: The ‘Best Actor In A Comedy Series!’
Just like the Drama series, we are getting a separate category for the ‘Best Actor’ in a comedy series. The nominees are:
- Brett Goldstein for Ted Lasso
- Bill Hader for Barry
- Ebon Moss-Bachrach for The Bear
- Jason Sudeikis for Ted Lasso
- Jeremy Allen White for The Bear
According to me, Brett Goldstein from Ted Lasso and Jeremy Allen White from The Bear are the two top contenders for this particular title- however, the character of Jeremy is the one which has a good potential to develop a spinoff show, whereas Brett’s character was lagging in it’s pace (sometimes, but it is enough to make a difference!).
Hence, Jeremy Allen White may win the title of the Best Actor In A Comedy Series!
SAG Awards 2024 For: ‘Best Stunts In A TV Series!’
Next in the list is the category of Best stunts BUT in a TV Series. The nominees are as follows:
- Beef
- Barry
- Ahsoka
- The Last Of Us
- The Mandalorian
Despite getting a separate show of our Ahsoka, I was not satisfied with their VFX, action sequences and more importantly the script writing. The Mandalorian, Beef and The Last Of Us are easily dominating over other two projects, but we knows that only one will win. So who is going to pick up this title?
I feels like The Last Of Us is going to add another reward in their long list of awards and it’s simple because of it’s ‘to-the-point’ type of actions. The show was a direct adaptation of the original game and it has not modifies anything in a weird way.
Beef on the other hand is also a perfect choice but the fact that Last Of Us was able to connect it’s audience better then every other project of this list gives a bonus point. So Yes, I am going to move forward with ‘The Last Of Us’ one more time!
