Hollywood is going through series of changes and developments nowadays. Strikes, delays, announcements are few to mention. Netflix is known for the fast renewal of it’s projects. They hardly takes a month or two before renewing their newest projects for more seasons or sequels.

The first season premiered on streaming platform in 2021 and season two was announced back in June 2022. Now many different factors might play a vital role in the release schedule — the most important one is of-course the filming. Luckily, Squid Game season 2 has officially wrapped filming in 2023 — so we can expect an escalation in their process.

Now here comes a big surprise for you. Just in case if you don’t know then Netflix has officially confirmed the release window for the second season. As per their latest post, Squid Game season 2 will officially premiere on Netflix later this year, alongside with Bridgerton season 3 and other big projects. They’ve not announced a fixed date but you should expect it to land somewhere around Halloween 2024.

While Squid Game season 2 is now officially coming later this year, it is important for us to know more about it right? First and foremost — the casting. Who is returning? Are we getting any new entry? Well, I have gathered everything that you are looking for!

Speaking at Netflix’s global fan event, Tudum 2023, on June 17, it was revealed that Squid Game: The Challenge, or call it as Squid Game Season 2, will welcome Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon and Yang Dong-geun to the cast of the second season.

Not only this, we are also getting our beloved South Korean actress Kim Si-eun as one of those new faces who will be playing a key role during the events of second season. When asked about her experience on the radio show Cine Town on SBS POWER FM, the actress said:

“So far so good. I can’t wait for it to come out! I’ve been busy filming Squid Game recently, and filming it has been super fun. I don’t have a lot of opportunities to work with such legendary actors, so it’s just such an honour for me to work with them. I feel grateful for this amazing opportunity. I’m trying to learn as much as I can while working with them.”

While she is looking just way too grateful for this golden opportunity, we are also getting some returning faces. It includes Lee Jung-jae, who played the series’ protagonist Seong Gi-hun (a.k.a. Player 456), Lee Byung-hun, who portrayed Front Man (the leader of the team running the competition); and Wi Ha-jun, who played the role of Hwang Jun-ho (the interloper who broke into the competition to try and find his brother).

Well, I can already feel a vibe after looking at the list of cast members. Isn’t it just too good to be true? I would not be surprised if Netflix reveals some more new character with a new cast or two – I mean, they loves to amaze their audience right?

What Will Happen In Squid Game Season 2? My Predictions!

Now we knows that Squid Game season 2 will release later this year and we are getting many new faces in the cast — what about it’s plot line? What exactly is happening in the second season?

While the official plot is currently under wraps, Netflix has officially revealed the first short teaser of Squid Game Season 2. It shows Seong Gi-hun at the airport, where a voice on the phone tells him, ‘You’ll regret your decision.‘ Gi-hun, who appears angry but determined, replies, ‘I will find you. No matter what it takes.‘ Netflix also released several photos from the new season.

Now all I can expect in season two is Gi-hun who may abandon his plans to travel to the United States after a mysterious call and embarks on a chase with a motive. While some other stills from Squid Game season 2 also reveals tense moments where our protagonists can be seen ar gun point.

Previously, an announcement teaser was revealing our giant killer robot doll we were introduced to last series. The number two flickers in her eye as the robot’s infamous song plays in the background. In one of the latest interviews, Co-CEO of Netflix (Ted Sarandos) has said:

“We are really excited about director Hwang’s ability for storytelling, more dynamic sets, and more mind-blowing storylines that are going to thrill the entire world. Hwang’s vision is such a powerful example of how Korean — and non-English titles – can be locally authentic while finding new international audiences on Netflix.”

While the actual plot is kept under wraps — these hints and teaser are enough to build a hype among the audience. I would say that many unexpected deaths and twists are waiting for us. Now we knows that Squid Game Season 2 is just around the corner — the first trailer should land within next couple of months and that will definitely clear our speculations and doubts.
