The Last of Us season 2 is going to pick up the storyline from the second part of this gaming saga. Pedro Pascal is reprising his role as Joel once again and I believe that it’s going to be a die-hard task for us to watch all those incidents which will be taking place with his character (if you know what I means).
The first season was released last year and it was the one which garnered a huge popularity on HBO Max platform. The Last Of Us gaming saga is among the top rated and most beloved IP’s of all time, no wonder why the HBO company is taking this long for making a second season (I mean, let them do it with perfection right?). However, we as a fan just can’t wait to hear more from these characters and that’s the only reason why everyone is busy in sharing updates, rumors, reports and what not.
Well, the most important part (or you can call it as an update) for any project is it’s release schedule. Yes, I know that you were also wondering about this exact detail and luckily- I know something that you too should know. So let’s uncover the mystery of The Last of Us season 2 release schedule as now we do have a solid update about it!
The Last Of Us Season 2 Will Release On..?
The Last of Us season 2 is getting many exciting updates this year. First we came to know about the casting of Kaitlyn Dever as Abby in this saga, then we got an update about Catherine O’Hara who is also going to make an appearance in second season. It is a bit tricky to predict about her character because neither HBO nor any other cast member has said anything about her yet.
On the other hand, I would say that the streaming company is definitely playing a perfect role in selecting the names for the casting. Yes it’s true that Kaitlyn might get in trouble after playing Abby, but she is also the only one who can fit herself in such roles- still I would love to say ‘Good Luck‘ to her because she is going to color her hands with some ‘red’ fluid in this sequel (If you know, you know!).
Now the latest update is landing in the form of it’s release schedule and let me tell you that these updates are so solid that you can call it as official. The first season took almost a year and a half to get completed from the very beginning. It is understandable because shows and projects like this can take a good amount of time.
The Last of Us season 2 in currently under very active state of development and finally Pedro Pascal himself has revealed many updates about it. While speaking to Deadline after winning the SAG AFTRA awards 2024, the actor said:
“Filming is going amazing. It’s sort of awe-inspiring the kind of focus and dedication that everyone has going into Season 2. It’s incredible to be back home with them [Craig Mazin and Bella Ramsey] and creatively and everybody, our entire crew, they’re working harder than I could even imagine, even harder than our first season which is close to impossible. It’s pretty inspiring and unbelievable and this [his SAG Award] is because of them.”
While he didn’t really revealed anything about the release schedule, some of the latest reports are confirming that The Last of Us season 2 will release next year. Yes, I am not even joking. Hollywood outlets like CoveredGeekly are claiming that the second season of this popular gaming adaptation will reportedly release somewhere in early 2025– hence, closing every possibility of it to land this year.
This release date seems really logical if we takes a look on the upcoming plot of this series. The Last of Us season 2 will deal with some of the most heart-shattering and deep moments where some (or many) characters will go through the series of development. Ellie and Joel were leading the first season very beautifully, but season 2 will feature tons of new characters, and so the increased amount of filming and stuffs.
Still if HBO manages to keep the standards high while avoiding the chances of any sort of mistakes- then I feels like Yes! they deserves some extra time. Well, some more details will land in the upcoming months and I will keep my eagle eyes on them. The Last of us Season 2 is currently developing but many other shows are already down the line. So make sure to stick around the corner with TV Prism to stay connected with everything. Till then- stay safe, peace out!
