DreamWorks is known for providing us some of the most astonishing and delightful characters, and Po is one of them. Kung Fu Panda 4 is a sequel which is finally landing in our theatres after a long wait and no wonder why fans like me (Yes! I am a huge fangirl of this saga!!) are just dying to watch it with our families and friends. It is the power of this IP (intellectual property) that makes it a perfect animated franchise in the time where other studios are going woke.
While the movie will rush in our theatres at US starting from March 8, 2024- Kung Fu Panda 4 has finally received it’s world premiere- and with that comes our first reactions. Luckily, I am one of those lucky members from Movie World Network who has finally watched this project and now is the time to share my review.
You don’t have to worry about anything because I am not going to include any spoilers. In fact, I am not even going to include the name of ‘those’ characters which are making this movie a masterpiece. This article is going to give you a very honest and clean review about Kung Fu Panda 4, and I feels like you are definitely going to thanks me later!
Kung Fu Panda 4 Is…!
The Kung Fu Panda saga is known for delivering us a solid plotline coupled up with some of the most lovable characters and even villains. The first movie was enough to establish the base for an empire which was going to build in next few years. Luckily, just like the first three movies, Kung Fu Panda 4 picks up the exact same theme and vibes surrounding our Dragon Warrior.
As soon as the movie starts playing, I was able to feel the special kind of relation with my Po and his cute master. Set in a very peaceful world (not for so long), Kung Fu Panda 4 does not wastes much time in tackling the main theme of the movie. One thing which I would love to mention is the style of animation- I mean, just WOW!
In the time where the competition is very high and the market of animated movies is quiet over saturated- Kung Fu Panda 4 is handling with it in a very beautiful manner. The animation style is so unique and iconic that you’ll feel it popping out of your big screens (Believe me, if you really want to feel it then please watch this masterpiece in 3D. It’s definitely going to be worth it!).
The colors, the blends, the motions and the realism- everything is just out of this world. As we moves deep in the movie, you’ll start feeling lost. I mean, the story of Kung Fu Panda 4 is so engaging that I never felt disconnected with their narration. The introduction of Chameleon in this epic saga is just a wild move and it has so much more to offer (if you knows what I mean).
Talking about the voice acting then duhh! No complaints at all. Jack Black (like always) is just nailing it. I was a bit worried about Zhen but hey, hats off to Awkwafina. What a talented girl she is. After passing twenty to thirty minutes in the movie, we finally witnesses our Zhen and believe me, this intro was enough to show that our Po never forgets about his moves.
Even DreamWorks has released an official clip online where Po and Zhen are meeting for the first time- however, I would suggest you to avoid watching it. Just save yourself for a theatrical experience! Anyways, the other voice actors are also doing a perfect job. Yes I didn’t got much from furious five- but the chemistry of Po and Zhen was enough to dominate over my heart and mind.
Next I am going to talk about their action sequences and again- “IT’S A WOW!!” I’ve never ever felt this level of excitement while watching an animated movie (other then that one time when I was watching ‘Puss in Boots: The Last Wish‘, which is another example of a cinematic masterpiece from the same studio. Talking about Kung Fu Panda 4 then it’s dynamic action sequences will make you jump out of your seats. The fast pace of animation and background makes it a perfect treat for fans.
Chameleon is a character which is playing it’s part is a very beautiful manner. Viola Davis is doing an outstanding job while voicing this character and I would not be surprised if she pulls an award for her performance.
One thing that I personally wants to add is the way of storytelling. Kung Fu Panda 4 is dealing with a fast pace of storytelling coupled up with many hilarious moments- however, it is still suffering to touch the level of Kung Fu Panda 4. Now again, it’s my personal opinion and it’s possible that you may disagree on it (which is totally fine!).
The second movie was showcasing us many dark times of Po’s life, but Kung Fu Panda 4 (which could’ve deliver us those dark vibes) is lagging here. Chameleon is bringing back every single villain from the history of this saga- so there was a golden opportunity to bring in more dark battles.
Despite showing us some darker moments, this movie is diving into a conclusive them which itself opens up the doors for more projects. Expect a happy ending coupled up with the respect for ‘every’ single character of this saga. For me, it’s definitely deserves a rating of 8.5/10 overall. What’s yours?
