We all loves to talk about Harry Potter right? It is the influence of this great franchise which has caused millions to follow them in day to day life either via movies or their novels. Now that we don’t really gets any more movies with our beloved cast, it sometimes gets hard to believe that how far we’ve come.
Well in Hollywood, never say never. It is full of surprises and we never knows what’s coming next. One of such gifts is an upcoming Harry Potter TV series. Wondering about it’s updates? Here’s everything that you need to learn about it!
At a Glimpse:
Francesca Gardiner To Direct & Write The Harry Potter Series!
Yes, it’s official. Creator J.K. Rowling has taken internet on storm by sharing this exclusive update via her Instagram account. The 58-year-old creator has informed her fans that Francesca Gardiner is official going to direct and write the upcoming Harry Potter TV Series.
She shared the post of ‘The Hollywood Reporter’ and mentioned, “I’m truly thrilled to announce our director and writer, both of whom I interviewed as part of the production team.” She also added, “Both have a genuine passion for #HarryPotter, and having read Francesca’s pilot script and heard Mark’s vision, I’m certain the TV show will more than live up to expectations.”
It indeed is a huge update for all Harry Potter fans because we’ve seen the works of Gardiner. She is very well known for her works in the projects like ‘Grandmothers,’ ‘Ham,’ and ‘El Macho.’
Harry Potter TV Series Won’t Premiere On Max!
Warner Bros. Discovery is making some pretty big adjustments in some of it’s highly anticipated projects and platform. CEO May Bloys has officially announced that the upcoming Harry Potter TV Series will not be marked as Max originals.
Instead, they are planning to take it forward as HBO Originals series and treat in a bit different manner. In an exclusive interview with Variety, May confirmed that not only the Harry Potter TV Series, but the shift is going to take place with an upcoming prequel of ‘IT,’ titled as “Welcome to Derry,” will also be moving from the Max to the HBO Originals umbrella.
“The idea of using Warner Bros. IP as a delineation for Max felt right. At least that gives you a clear lane. But as we started producing those shows, we used the same methods and the same kind of thinking as how we would approach HBO shows. In a lot of cases, the same talent that has worked on HBO shows,” Bloys explained.
It should be noted that both of these projects were originally marked as a dedicated one strictly for streaming, so it’d be interesting to see if this decision makes any sort kind of significant impact on the overall quality and production or not.
Harry Potter TV Series Release Date: When To Expect?
The series was first confirmed to be in development back in 2021. Although Warner Bros. Discovery has kept almost everything under wraps and we are trying our best to extract out as much as we can.
Despite being tight lipped, they’ve officially announced a solid release window for it. As per now, Harry Potter TV Series will release sometime in 2026. The show is under very active state of production and it is just a matter of time before we gets some exclusive behind the scene type of looks.
While no story details are out yet, I know that millions of fans like you ad I are excited to know if Daniel Redcliffe will appear. Back in June 2023, Radcliffe confirmed to Deadline that he will very unlikely appear in this project. I know it’s pretty unfortunate but that’s for the greater good.
“I don’t think so, no,” Daniel said. “Certainly, everything I’ve read about the series they’re starting fresh, so it’d be a bit weird to have me pop in… I think that Harry Potter was always destined to become like Sherlock Holmes… There’s probably an eight-year-old kid out there whose life is going to change in a couple years, so my brain does go there.”
So what I can conclude from his comment is quiet simple. The show will be taking us on a wild ride of new experience and POV’s. That’s why the absence of our Potter is not just a sad news, but a necessity for avoiding over-saturation of events.
As of now, this was pretty much of everything that I wanted to share with you all. Stick around the corner with TVPrism where we brings you some of the most detailed, original, engaging and high quality content related to everything TV. Till then – stay safe, peace out!
