Are we heading for a New Years Eve? Of course not! But hey! Shakira is here to make our every day count as a New Year! With an astonishing surprise performance at Times Square, the highly beloved singer is now garnering everyone’s eyes.
Times Square, a place which is highly popular for delivering us tons of meet-ups organized by our celebs, influencers and other popular personalities went under limelight when Shakira announced a ‘Pop-Up’ concert all of a sudden. It was not planned, neither people were expecting anything like that – but it was Shakira who wanted to treat her audience with love.
The reason behind this surprise concert was pretty simple – the ‘Waka-Waka‘ singer wanted to celebrate her latest album, ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran‘ which is currently garnering a heavy amount of viewership across various different platforms. But hold on! Let me share those vibes with you.
It was Tuesday and people were busy in taking pictures of each other at Times Square. All of a sudden, every single billboard of this place turns itself into the countdown clock which was announcing a concert. The singer who was visible on all those boards was our Shakira and the show was about to begin in next couple of minutes.
While nobody was ready for it, people went into the flood of confusions. Despite this, the catch was the cost of attending this show – “IT WAS FREE!” Yes, the show was free and that was the thing which was motivating everyone. Now what? The crowd rushed and the numbers were surprising. As per the figures stated by the organizer, around 40,000 attendees had shown up to watch Shakira perform.
At around 7:30 PM ET, the TSX stage opened and brought forth the energetic performer. Glitters everywhere, coupled up with lights and cheering, Shakira opened the show with her No. 1 hit song, ‘Hips Don’t Lie‘, making the crowd go crazy.
The Vibes Of Shakira Were Truly Phenomenal!
We knows how idols treats us with their outstanding performances. Taylor Swift is the living example who is busy in her Eras Tour 2024. However, nobody forgets about Shakira. With two-decade long carrier, Shakira is widely known for her angelic voice and back to back hits. In fact, I would call her as a ‘trend-setter’ because we’ve seen multiple trending styles and moves from this multi-talented artist.
Same thing happened at Texas. The sky was perfect, cheering was taking over Times Square and there comes our idol. Shakira was seen in all black, with a silver design on her top. After performing her opening song, the first few words were truly magical – “Hola New York! Oh my God, this is amazing, absolutely insane.”
While the crowd was truly phenomenal, it was the power band of Shakira which was working like a cherry on top. During her surprise concert, she delivered some of the most trending songs of all time including Te Felicito, TQM, Cómo Dónde y Cuándo, and also her latest track, Puntería. She said:
“It’s so awesome to see you again, to sing for you… Nothing compares to this. Thank you so much for all the love that you’ve been giving me this week during the release of my new album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran. And thank you, thank you, thank you for showing up.”
It also shows her iconic talent and passion, coupled up with her love for her fan-base. The Times Square was under her control and no wonder why she is trending on all over the internet. I lives only 20-minutes away from Square, but Woah! My bad! I was not able to show up there for her. Anyways, Shakira ended her show with some beautiful words like always:
“I’m happy to be here surrounded by my Latin people. Thank you, New York. Until next time. I love you very much,”
