“Playing Rhaenys Targaryen In House Of The Dragon Was Physically Painful,” Says Star Eve Best

House of the Dragon season 2 is currently streaming everywhere, and no wonder why the show is dominating the charts. Now that we’ve officially entered in the realm of dragons, maybe we should just take a look on how hard it is for actors to bring that level of flames on our small screens.

Eve Best, the actress who plays Rhaenys Targaryen, has shared how “physically painful” it was to portray her character. In an interview with The Guardian, Eve has revealed that ‘it left her in a lot of pain.’ While House of the Dragon season 2 has ultimately dropped a huge twist with her character, HBO series Game of Thrones is usually known for bringing the most realistic emotions via their characters.

Well, everything comes at a cost, and that’s what our Eve Best was playing during the production of this epic series!

“I Was Bruised To Hell For House Of The Dragon!”

These are not my words. When asked about her experience on the sets of House of the Dragon season 2, she said, “Someone described it as like a bucking bronco meets a wild rollercoaster. I can’t bear fairground rides, so it was slightly filling me with dread. But it was amazing.“

Although this statement looks pretty normal, it was the technological aspect that has given her a “bruised to hell” type of experience. She continued:

“You climb up a huge ladder on to this extraordinary machine, then get strapped in. It moves and makes alarming noises, while a wind machine blasts you. I was bruised to hell the next day.“

Yes it’s true that technology has developed itself a lot, and movie-industry is the one which is using it at a very large scale – however, we can’t deny the fact that some emotions of characters comes from inside, and that’s what is known as an experienced and sincere acting.

If you’ll ask me for choosing one character from this saga, then it will be none other then our Rhaenys Targaryen. Despite being the rightful person for the Iron Throne, she was overlooked in favor of her cousin, Viserys I, because of Westeros’ patriarchal customs. It also shows the real strength and stability of her inner self, that makes this character even more powerful.

Eve Best has delivered her experience in ‘House of the Dragon’ saga, and no wonder how she has established her name in one of the most well-trained and finest actors of Hollywood. Despite this level of pain, she added, “Everything was very secretive. To audition, we were initially sent a scene from the original Game of Thrones with the names changed. We weren’t even told the title of the new show.“
